Why We Recommend This
Wheat is less weedy and easier to manage than some grasses. Wheat provides erosion control and cycles N, P and K. Because of wheat's quick growth, it suppresses weeds well and adds to soil organic matter.
Things to Watch Out For
Wheat is more susceptible than rye or oats to insects and disease and it is not as winter hardy as cereal rye or triticale. Pathogens can build up in the soil that will negatively affect future cereal grain crops.
