Why We Recommend This
Red clover is adapted to more soils and climates than other legumes and can do well wherever corn grows well. It fixes N to provide to the following crop and has a taproot that can grow several feet, breaking up compacted soils.
Things to Watch Out For
Red clover is at a high risk for root rots and foliar diseases. Monitor animals grazing red clover for bloat and operations with sheep should not graze during breeding season due to oestrogen production.
