Additional Information
Why We Recommend This
Pearl millet produces the most biomass of any millets and is an excellent grazer that also produces high quality, high energy hay. It is drought tolerant and is more adaptive to sandy soils than other grasses. It breaks up compacted soils well with its high root density and is at a very low risk for becoming weedy. Consider using in a mix with sorghum.
Things to Watch Out For
Pearl millet does not do well in wet or heavy clay soils. It has a pertensity to accumulate dangerous levels of nitrate and should not be overgrazed.
