Why We Recommend This

Mustard produces chemicals toxic to pathogens and pests as it decomposes, especially when incorporated into the soil. It produces more biomass than yellow mustard and it's long tuberous root fights soil compaction and erosion.

 Things to Watch Out For

Mustard can become weedy if allowed to go to seed. The weed-fighting toxins can also stunt cash crops, especially when biomass is incorporated, and planting should be delayed until three weeks post termination. Consuming large quantities of oriental mustard can be harmful to livestock and it is not recommended as forage.
