Additional Information

Why We Recommend This

Forage soy provides a fast growing, late season leafy green, ideal for fall forage. Forage soybeans also provide an opportunity for nitrogen fixation because beans and biomass are left on the field. Consider mixing with sorghums or warm season grasses for a punch of protein in your forage mix.

 Things to Watch Out For

Forage soybeans have fewer control measures for weeds because many herbicides have restrictions for use when soybeans are grazed. Forage soy is not as drought hardy as cowpea. Do not use in a soy rotation as forage soy could become a host for pests.
