Why We Recommend This
Forage collards are a versatile addition to any spring or summer mix. They provide vegetative biomass throughout the season and are able to quickly regrow allowing for uninterrupted grazing potential. Their long tap root can penetrate through hardpan and alleviate compaction concerns. They scavenge nutrients and maintain a rich network of living roots in the ground.
Things to Watch Out For
Forage collards have a waxy leaf which can make herbicide termination difficult. A surfactant may be necessary during herbicide application. Do not plant in a field where canola will be grown due to potential disease issues.
