Why We Recommend This
Fava or faba beans are suited for a wide range of soils and are capable of producing large amounts of biomass suitable for forage. Their deep taproots can break up compacted soils. Fava beans are one of the most productive N fixing cover crops and they can continue to produce N longer than most legumes.
Things to Watch Out For
Fava beans are not good weed suppressors. Fava seeds are large, which can make planting mixes more difficult.
