Why We Recommend This
Cowpea provides excellent ground cover and offers high quantity and quality forage. It fights erosion, fixes N, smothers weeds, and attract beneficial insects. Cowpea does well in heat and drought conditions. Darrin classifies cowpeas as the #1 summer legume that there is.
Things to Watch Out For
Cowpea pods can attract stink bugs. Cowpeas will not tolerate waterlogged soils and cool, wet soils will rot seeds. Cowpea supply is limited. If sold out, consider replacing with forage soy.
