Additional Information
Why We Recommend This
Buckwheat is a fast growing summer cover that is quick to flower. Cows and dear love it and its high nectar flow is great for bees and beneficial insects. Buckwheat scavenges phosphorus and other nutrients that can be used by the cash crop, and can tolerate poor soils. Buckwheat is one of Darrin's favorite summer covers.
Things to Watch Out For
Buckwheat flowers quickly and can reseed to become a weed (especially in wheat). It is not drought hardy or tolerant to frosts or floods.
