Additional Information
Why We Recommend This
Black oats have large, wide leaves that provide a nutritious, easily digestible forage. Black oats are drought tolerant and can be planted in low-nutrient or heavy clay soils. It grows faster than other grasses, has an allelopathic effect on small seeded weeds, and is resistant to some nematodes.
Things to Watch Out For
Black oats are not frost tolerant and can become weedy or invasive without proper management.
