Why We Recommend This

Alfalfa is fast-growing and produces lots of nutritious biomass for forage. Alfalfa also has compaction-busting benefits, fixes high amounts of nitrogen and is good for bees.

 Things to Watch Out For

Alfalfa does not tolerate heavily compacted or acidic soil and requires high levels of P and K. Operations using low or no till are more susceptible to slugs in their subsequent crops.
